Intake Starts with Strategy, Not a Form
Great intake starts before the form. Strategy, insight and evidence are what protect creative work from late chaos.
The most important part of intake is not the form. It is the strategic thinking that happens before a request is submitted.
When work comes into Creative Ops, the real job is not understanding what needs to be made. It is understanding why the work matters, who it is for and what should change because it exists. Without that clarity, even strong creative execution struggles to land.
Good intake starts with insight. What problem are we solving? Why should anyone care? What behavior or decision are we trying to influence? If this work succeeds, how will we know?
Evidence matters just as much. Data, research, past performance, customer insights or learnings from similar work give the creative team something to anchor to. They turn opinions into direction and reduce the guesswork that later shows up as misalignment or rework.
When this context is missing, the same patterns always appear. Feedback becomes subjective. Stakeholders disagree on what “good” looks like. Urgency replaces clarity and timelines stretch under the weight of late changes.
This is where Creative Ops adds real value. Sometimes the idea is right but the insight is thin. Sometimes the work needs sharper strategy before it needs creative ideation. Sometimes the smartest move is to pause and define the why before spending creative capacity.
That is not slowing teams down. It is protecting the work, the brand and the people doing it.
Good intake does not just manage demand. It raises the quality of what gets made by starting with strategy instead of scrambling to find it later.
