What Actually Works in a Re-Org: Progress Over Perfection

Re-orgs create pressure to prove value quickly. That’s usually when teams start looking at their workflows and asking, do we tweak this or do we rebuild it entirely? The honest answer is, sometimes you do need an overhaul.

A lot has changed in the past year. AI is now part of how marketing teams are expected to work. There’s pressure to move faster, produce more and do it with fewer resources. In some cases, the old way of working just won’t hold up.

But not everything needs to be rebuilt all at once. What actually works is being intentional about where you start.

If you can make targeted changes that create real impact, do that first. Fix the areas where work is breaking. Reduce friction. Clarify ownership. Those moves can unlock a lot without creating additional disruption.

And when a bigger reset is needed, you’ll be in a much better position to do it. You’ll understand what’s working, what isn’t and what actually needs to change.

The teams that navigate this well don’t chase perfection. They focus on progress. They make smart improvements where they can. They rethink bigger systems when they need to. And they stay grounded in what actually helps people do better work.

Because in the middle of a re-org, when everything already feels a bit like a storm, progress is what builds momentum.
